The Estes Method is a method by which paranormal circles believe they can communicate with a so-called intelligent haunting or energy.

The method is fundamentally about creating an even and respectful two-way conversation with the unknown. The method requires little equipment, but requires no special training or caution. You will not have to worry about exposing yourself to danger, or making things worse.

The aim is that through dialogue you can gain an understanding of what is going on. Maybe you can even find a solution and have peace of mind at home.

You need:

  • 2 pparticipants (One who asks questions and one who listens to radio noise)
  • 2 seats (chair, bed, or similar)
  • Sleeping goggles / mask
  • Comfortable headphones
  • A "Ghost-box" which makes white noise, or alternatively an old-fashioned FM radio.
  • Two mobile phones or video cameras.
  • Notepads and writing implements

Course of action:

  • The two people take up positions in the house or place where they believe the unknown is moving or located. A chair is placed in two separate rooms, and here it is important that the questioner can hear the recipient, but the recipient must not be able to hear the questioner.
  • Two cameras or mobile phones are set up, which film the two participants. It is important that the video is started at exactly the same time on the two cameras.
  • Remember as participants, to be calm, positive, be open to what is happening and be free of doubts and worries.
  • The "recipient" person now puts on a mask and headphones while he sits comfortably in a chair. The aim is to exclude all external influences. The headphones must be connected to a Ghostbox or alternatively an old FM radio which can make white noise. The receiver must now try to hear words in the white noise.
  • The "questioner" now starts by introducing the team and telling them what they want. Just like you actually meet a stranger, in a polite way.
  • The "questioner" now asks questions, knowing that no one should be able to hear him. And the person must then take a short break. With any luck, the "receiver" will hear an answer/word in the white noise.
  • The "questioner" will now try to enter into a dialogue with the words that are collected. After some time, the "Questioner" will interrupt the session, thank and say goodbye to what you are now communicating with.
  • If both cameras are on at the same time, it should now be easy to play both clips, so you can now combine questions and answers. Maybe you should have another Estes session when you have gathered your strength again.
  • Talk things out: Talk about the Estes session and bounce concerns and observations. Share experiences and support each other if it has been uncomfortable.
  • Take action on what you have found out. Perhaps the conversation has now suggested that you should do something: say a prayer, find something or the like.

No guarantee!

The Estes method is widely used in paranormal circles, but remember, there is no guarantee that you will get answers. Maybe you get completely useless information, and as a participant in the team you have to decide for yourself whether things are relevant to your task.

STOP IF:

  • a participant feels discomfort. Stop the session and talk things through.
  • a participant experiences nausea, physical symptoms, dizziness, etc.
  • a participant is overwhelmed. Eg. the participant will start to cry, laugh, be angry or panic. Stop the session and talk things through.
  • uncomfortable communication occurs. You don't have to settle for everything from the unknown. If the conversation becomes stilted, vulgar or inappropriate, tell the stranger and stop the session.
  • there are technical issues. Correct the issues and start again after a good break.
  • you are disturbed. Find you calm again or simply find another time.
  • you get tired. Find another day and start on a fresh
  • a participant withdraws his consent and does not want to participate anymore. Stop immediately and talk things through.
  • if time runs out.
  • you have the slightest doubt as to whether you are doing the ethically right thing. Get any concerns clarified and start another day fresh.

No danger!

There is absolutely no danger to those who participate in such a session. Since you have communicated respectfully and in a good energy, there is no reason to believe that "retaliation" should occur from the unknown. If the presence is intelligent and has already shown a willingness to make contact, then the presence will naturally welcome your efforts.

Some participants think "what if it's a demon, it's going to do something to me".

As a participant, see this session as a meeting in the street. Some people are nice and others are just jerks. How would you treat a fool you meet on the street. You will get angry and say: "Listen, I don't want to talk to you. Go your way, don't follow me, have a good day", will be the method to defuse this situation. A conversation with the beyond is nothing more than a conversation on the pedestrian street.

So just jump into it. Just the fact that you try to make contact will often dampen the activity a little and create calm.
